SEAT has received the AUTOMOCIÓN-ACICAE award, in the Carmaker category, which is an annual recognition made by the Basque automotive cluster ACICAE. This year, the Basque association recognised SEAT “for its performance as an automotive carmaker that is linked to local suppliers and for the success of its new vehicle models”. SEAT has just begun to market the Ateca and in the next 18 months will complete the biggest product offensive in the history of the brand with the launch of three new models.
SEAT and Volkswagen Group in Spain Vice-President for Government and Institutional Affairs Ramón Paredes accepted the award on behalf of the company and acknowledged “the recognition of the performance of the only Spanish company in the automotive sector, which designs, develops, manufactures and markets”. In addition, he stressed that the distinction was made by “ACICAE, the first automotive cluster founded in Europe and with which SEAT regularly collaborates, which has contributed to the five-fold increase in turnover of the Basque automotive industry over the past 15 years”.
The aim of the AUTOMOCIÓN-ACICAE awards is to highlight the efforts made by individuals and organisations in a sector as demanding as the automotive industry. The award was given to SEAT in the framework of the 11th edition of the annual meeting of the Basque automotive industry, which is organised by ACICAE. For the occasion, one of the speakers was SEAT Executive Vice-President for Purchasing Klaus Ziegler.
ACICAE is a non-profit making business association, founded in the Basque Country (Spain) in 1993 with the aim of improving the competitiveness of the automotive industry, and is promoted by the Basque Government. Since then it has evolved rapidly, contributing to the increase in turnover of the Basque automotive industry, which currently exceeds 15 billion euros and employs over 76,000 workers worldwide.
