Alhambra Wins Car of the Year - Professional Driver Magazone | Cecil & Larter SEAT

The Alhambra has won the MPV category at Professional Driver’s Car of the Year awards, adding yet another trophy to the multi-award-winning model’s list of accolades.

The 2.0 TDI SE Lux variant was judged to be the best seven-seater MPV for private hire operators.

Mark Bursa, Editor of Professional Driver magazine, said: “Private hire operators still need full-size people-movers, and the Alhambra really fits the bill. Facelifted last year with new sat-nav, lights and Euro 6 engines, it has always been a potent product. It’s a genuine seven-seater, with ease of access via sliding doors, not to mention low running costs.”

Steve Mirfin, Product Manager for Alhambra, added: “The Alhambra was developed with comfort and practicality in mind. Few MPVs manage to offer the space, design and running costs that private hire operators want; the Alhambra excels in all of them, and this award is confirmation of that.”

How Alhambra’s success has helped private hire businesses

SEAT have supplied Alhambra products to various Uber-affiliated companies in 2016, including Otto Car, Openstart and SHS.

Joe Steiner, Area Fleet Manager for SEAT UK, said: “Demand for the Alhambra has grown as word has spread how great the car is in the taxi market. The Ford Galaxy is still a popular choice, but the Alhambra is a real competitor now in this segment.

“Otto has taken the lion’s share of our product in London, and has had great success with the Alhambra in 2016. Otto expects to only see demand increase as we go into 2017.”
