Loyal Employees Reach Major Landmark at Bury Firm 

Staff at Cecil & Larter have collectively racked up over 500 years of service at the same company. 

49 employers from Cecil and Larter - based on Mildenhall Road - have put in the stint with six staff gaining over 25 years service each. T

hat includes Managing Director Ray Cawston who has also reached the 25 year landmark. He said, “On reaching my quarter of a century, I suddenly realised that quite a few employees had been with us for a considerable amount of time as well.” “So we quickly added up all our employee’s service records and it came to 563 years.”  

“For a relatively small business (in terms of employees), I thought that was quite unusual and I would like to pay tribute to all of our staff for the commitment they have shown the company.” 

Leading the pack for long service is Butch Murrow who has been with Cecil and Larter since 1971.   Next is Lynne Wheeler with over 30 years so far and Dennis Leader has managed 27 years and counting. 

Cecil and Larter was set up in 1927 and will be celebrating 85 years of trading in the town in 2012. 

They have sold Volvo’s since 1970 and more recently SEAT’s can be purchased from the Bury HQ.
